As if Honda has foreseen the disastrous pandemic throughout the world, they will launch a new version of MPV which has a very effective feature in this era. Honda will implement touchless power slide doors into the new model of Odyssey. Based on the information which has been updated in Honda teaser site, the new Odyssey will have some changes on its exterior which appeal more elegancy of the body. Furthermore, the changes also bring up some new functions that might bring a new trend in this era. The most profound feature of this model is the “Gesture Control” power slide doors.
The gesture control power slide doors will be active when move your hand toward rear side from the rear window frame of the body. Not only “Gesture control” which enables you to open the slide doors without touching them, but the “Hands free” power tail is also a very attractive touchless function. Without knowing that the pandemic has brought a new lifestyle which discourage the number of touches with hands, Honda might be just lucky to have this touchless control technology which might make them a pioneer and winner in the covid-19 market. By implementing and manipulating the new function in the new era, Honda might be able to turn the game over not only in MPV market, but also entire market. Who knows? Honda Odyssey might lead the game with Toyota Alphard in near future.

In the late 80’s, Toyota made this luxury car named as Celsior (LS in US) to compete with other makers such as Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes Benz or BMW. It is also known as the largest sedan of Toyota (excluding Toyota Century for chauffeur-driven) and the rival of Nissan Cima, and many popular celebrities like JAY Z also owned this especially during the 90s.
When this model was presented by Toyota, there was a story that many other makers purchased one unit of Celsior to do research about it. Why? The answer is, the TOTAL QUALITY was mostly perfect at that time. Some advantages are shown below, and let’s see how good it was (refer to UC30 model)
The first point is, the luxury interior. Wide space, with sunshade switch, automatic moving air con panels, and has rear seat massage for F package.
The second point is, the exterior. It has a wide trunk, and has air suspension which is more reliable compared to others.
Last but not least, is the “ SILENT V8 ENGINE”. This is the most popular thing about this car. When driving Celsior, you can feel really smooth and comfortable. However, when you step more on the accelerator, you can feel the “real V8”.
Toyota Celsior is still popular around the world. You can also find it in auction houses. If you want a reliable luxury car, why not to try this? Just contact us for any orders.
CVT A CVT, is a type of automatic transmission that provides more useable power & better fuel.
Advantages of the CVT CVT can vary the engine speed as needed to access maximum power as well as maximum fuel efficiency. This allows the CVT to provide quicker acceleration than a conventional automatic or manual transmission while delivering superior fuel economy.
Disadvantages of the CVT The CVT's biggest problem has been user acceptance. Because the CVT allows the engine to rev at any speed, the noises coming from under the hood sound odd to ears accustomed to conventional manual and automatic transmissions. The gradual changes in engine note sound like a sliding transmission or a slipping clutch -- signs of trouble with a conventional transmission, but perfectly normal for a CVT. Flooring an automatic car brings a lurch and a sudden burst of power, whereas CVTs provide a smooth, rapid increase to maximum power. To some drivers this makes the car feel slower; in fact a CVT will generally out-accelerate an automatic.
VARIABLE VALVE TIMING The concept of a static or single-mode combustion engine is a little out of date in today. Because of the nature of fuel injection, carburators, the 4-stroke cycle and valves, the internal combustion engine only really works really well at one particular range of speeds. Any higher or lower and you start to cock up fuel efficiency, reliability and power. To overcome this issue, and to try to make engines more usable throughout their rev ranges, manufacturers invented various different types of variable valve timing. The idea is simple - alter the timing and/or size of the intake and exhaust ports at different engine RPM’s to ensure that the engine is as efficient as possible throughout it's range of operating speeds.
VTEC VTEC allows the valves to remain open for two different durations. A short opening time for low-speed operation to give good torque and acceleration, and a larger opening time for higher speeds to give more power. To do this, the camshaft has two sets of cam lobes for each valve and a sliding locking pin on the cam follower that determines which lobe is operating the valve. The locking pin is moved by a hydraulic control valve based on the engine speed and power delivery requirements. The two lobe shapes are referred to as fuel economy cams and high power cams, meaning that Honda engines with this technology are really two engines in one - a performance engine and an economical engine. The two animations below show a pair of cam lobes and followers to demonstrate the fundamental operation of VTEC. The left animation is fuel economy mode - the blue locking pin is not engaged so the two followers run on their respective cam lobes independently. The yellow one is the main cam follower which pushes on the valve. On the right, in power mode, the blue locking pin is engaged so now the red cam follower is locked to the yellow one which, now being driven by the red one, no longer contacts the lower profile cam lobe. Because the red follower is running on a higher profile cam lobe, it now forces the valve to stay open longer.
The new Toyota Harrier which was released in June 2020 is unstoppable. The number of orders has reached over 40,000 within a month from the date of debut in the market with the 4th ranking in the entire car industry in July. The initial monthly target was 3,000 units sale when the model was launched though it has turned out to be such a surprising number of orders has been made within a month. Since there has been unexpected number of orders, the delivery of the new orders is unpredictable. The popularity is very stable for SUV models of Toyota in Japan regardless of great economic impact due to Covid-19. Toyota has been doing a good job during the pandemic with its models occupying 1 st to 4 th raking in the market in July. By looking at the line up of 4 models in higher orders, 3 models are targeting at low-end market. Harrier is the only model that is targeting at high-end market though ranked in the higher order. This fact shows a continuous success and bright future of this model. Not only Harrier, but RAV4 has also been making a great popularity since its launching in the market last year.
What makes Toyota SUV so popular?
Toyota does have a lot of line up for each type of models to attract the fans of it. Yet, that is not the only reason which makes its success. Toyota also does have a strategic plan to improve all the aspects of models. With its constant improvement of models by minor changes in an appropriate span, Toyota comes to gain sufficient information and knowledge to come up with a best performing model when they launch a new model. This could apply for new Harrier as well. By having several rounds of minor changes with the last model that was launched in 2013, the New model achieved the best performance which could gain such a surprising success.

The Nissan Silvia (The Datsun Coupe 1600) was unveiled at the Tokyo motor show in 1964. Only 554 units were made, most of them destined for the Japan market, but around 50 was shipped to Australia and another 10 units reached worldwide customers. The introductory model was a hand-built coupe based on the Datsun Fairlady convertible, This beautiful cope was designed by “Kazuo Kimura” and “Fumio Yoshida” who worked as car designer at the time. It is said that German designer “Albrecht von Goertz” who designed BMW 507 was also engaged on the project.
This groundbreaking machine had a 96HP
1.6L inline four at the front, mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Nissan R
series engine was fueled by twin SU carbs, advanced for their time.
The selling price at the time was 1.2 million JPY, which is twice as higher as
Nissan Sunny. (At that time, the average starting salary for university graduates was
twenty-five thousand JPY) The cars were
assembled by hand and total production only totaled 554 units when Nissan
discontinued the model in 1968.
Japan’s first highway patrol car
This first-generation
Silvia (CSP311) was selected as a Highway patrol car by the Kanagawa
prefectural Police. As the speed limit on the Keihin third way (which is
between Tokyo and Yokohama) was 80km/h, it was decided that a car capable of
performing well at high speeds was needed for law enforcement. The Silvia, with
its top speed of 165km/h, fitted the bill. This was the first time in
Japan that a high-grade sports car had been adopted to police patrol.
Market Value?
Nissan Silvia SCP311 Average 6,000,000 yen-10,000,000 JPY
The
Japanese car industry is so diverse that you can find a daily commuter such as
a Honda Civic (which can still be fully customized) or a super car like the
Nissan GT-R this means you can find something for everyone. This large range of
choices makes it a bit difficult to sum it up in only 10 reasons, but we will
do our best.
Efficiency: In recent years we have come to associate efficiency with hybrid technology. But when it comes to Japanese vehicles it is not limited to that. Because even gasoline engines are incredibly efficient at getting you the most out of a single tank. While at the same time making sure to produce stylish cars.
Practicality:
Because of their popularity all around the world, it makes it very easy and
affordable to find parts for pretty much any make and model. Also it means that
the mechanics charged to work on them possess very high skills and training to
solve any issue you might encounter.
Innovation:
They are leaders when it comes to style, performance and overall efficiency.
These traits along with their constant desire to push the envelope and
continuous pursuit of ways to change the industry has set them apart from
basically any other nation in the automaking industry.
Technology:
It is a well-known fact around the world that Asia has always been at the
forefront of technological advancement when it comes to gadgets, phones,
electronics, etc. This particular ability has also spilled onto the auto
industry which makes for a constant evolution of performance and comfort.
Trucks:
Think back 20 years ago, you would have never even considered the Japanese
market for a truck. But in recent years, that is no longer the case. Because
they are now manufacturing trucks with great storage capabilities while at the
same time providing you with the most fuel efficiency, comfort and of course
the latest technology.
Testing;
Japanese society as a whole is extremely detail oriented. This means that every
single automobile is carefully checked and tested before being sent out of the
factory.
Cost:
Driving a Japanese car is a lot of fun. But not only that, you do not have to
break the bank to own one. They are very price competitive, repairing them
usually costs a lot less than most other vehicles from around the world.
Classics:
Because of their popularity they have been used in popular culture quite a bit.
Many of us grew up idolizing an RX-7, Nissan Skyline, or a Toyota Supra and you
just have to look at the current market price of these vehicles to know they
have become staples of car culture.
Performance:
They have not just been used as props in popular culture. But they are
thoroughly tested in professional driving events. Japanese engineering and
performance is unmatched in rally competitions.
Original
Styling: We have seen the constant desire to push the envelope by Japanese
engineering. One has to only walk through the car concept floors to see the
forward thinking on every single one of their designs.

The cab-over 2-tonne (4,400 lb) Elf (TL221) was originally introduced in August 1959. It was originally only available with the 1.5 litres (1,491 cc) GL150 petrol engine with 60 PS (44 kW).[7] It had single headlights and rear-hinged doors. A longer wheelbase version, on 2,460 mm (97 in) versus the 2,180 mm (86 in) of the regular version, was also available. This carries the TL251 chassis code.
In March 1960 a 2-liter diesel engine with 52 PS (38 kW) was introduced (TL121/151), a first for the class in Japan - this was soon followed by diesel models from Isuzu's competitors. In 1962 the engines were updated, and now have 72 and 55 PS (53 and 40 kW) respectively. The chassis codes were changed to TL321/351 for the diesel version, reflecting the installation of the all new DL201 engine. A little later, the chassis codes were reorganized and were now TLG10/11 for the petrol models and TLD10/11 for the diesels. In 1964 the long wheelbase model became the standard version. In 1964 the diesel was also upgraded to the larger 2.2-litre C220 with 62 PS (46 kW). In 1965 the front was redesigned, now with twin headlights.
Isuzu ended up offering a very wide variety of bodyworks for the first Elf. There was the original integrated bed, as well as a separate truckbed with dropsides. There was a double-cab version available, as well as special bodywork for dedicated purposes such as a soda truck, a dumper, and a tanker. There was also a "Route Van" model with a glazed rear compartment and seating either three or six, as well as the "Elf Bus" which was available in two models from 1960. The Elf Light Bus has integrated bodywork and the long wheelbase and seats 21 passengers (chassis codes BL171/271 for the diesel/petrol) while the Elf Micro Bus fit into the very narrow slot between the Route Van and the Light Bus.
The Micro Bus originally had the Route Van's bodywork but was more passenger-oriented (seating 12 or 15). It carried the TL121/151/21/251B chassis codes, and from 1961 it received its own rear bodywork with bigger glazing. The Elf Bus later became its own line, called the Isuzu.
Since its debut in 1994, RAV4 has pioneered the crossover SUV market, and remains the market leader. The fifth generation*5 RAV4 was released in April 2019. The pleasure of driving, unique to PHEV
Through installation of the Through installation of the newly developed THS II Plug-in system, Toyota strives for even greater driving pleasure. The new RAV4 achieves maximum system output*1 of 225 kW (306 PS), and maximum employment of the motor enables instantaneous acceleration and deceleration. In addition, with the assistance of the engine unique to PHEV, it achieves an acceleration from 0 - 100 kph in 6.0 seconds*2.
It adopts the TGNA platform (GA-K) and is equipped with a high capacity lithium-ion battery installed under the floor in the center of the vehicle. Efforts were made to realize a low center of gravity and optimal weight balance. It achieves high quality ride comfort focused on the driver and superior control stability.
Thanks to the E-Four electric 4WD system, the power produced by the newly developed plug-in hybrid system is fully distributed between all four wheels. In addition to achieving superior driving stability, a greater sense of stability when cornering, or driving in snow or rain, is enhanced.
It also realizes a BEV driving range of 95 kilometers*3 on a fully charged battery, and a hybrid fuel economy of 22 km/L*4. The RAV4 gasoline tank has a capacity of 55 L and boasts an incredible cruising range of 1,300 kilometers or more*5.
HEV driving mode, using the engine, leverages battery power to control engine revs, thereby reducing engine noise during acceleration. It provides a high quality driving space for not only BEV but also HEV mode driving.
Toyota has aimed for an even quieter motor-led driving performance, and introduced careful noise reduction measures into the body. In addition to optimal placement of sound insulation materials, the extent of dash panels and floor sound insulation has been expanded. Gaps at the joints have been carefully filled to prevent sound from penetrating the vehicle. Wind noise is also reduced through the use of a powerful soundproofing glass.
Adequate temperature of the lithium-ion battery is maintained using an air conditioning coolant. Reliable battery performance is enhanced by avoiding use under high temperature that accelerates deterioration and by appropriately controlling the battery charge.
The air conditioner employs a heat pump system that uses the heat from external air to raise the temperature of engine coolant water to heat the vehicle interior. When the air conditioner is on, it controls power consumption and reduction of the BEV driving range.
The vehicle also optimizes friction and damping force of the front and rear shock absorbers. Furthermore, it achieves superior control stability when cornering, for a solid, smooth ride comfort.
